The Governor of Lakes State on Sunday appointed eight Commissioners for the eight counties in Lakes State in decree number 12.

Governor Chol Tong Mayay retained only one Commissioner in Rumbek East County, David Marial Gumke.
The rest of the seven counties were replaced with new commissioners.
Speaking to Radio Good News, Lakes Minister of Information, Marik Nanga Marik, said that the appointment of the commissioners went through various consultations ranging from members of the public, like the chiefs, to intellectuals and to other opinion leaders.

Mr. Marik called upon the seven commissioners who have been relieved to remain hopeful and continue supporting Lakes State government, and said that they may be assigned by the government to other government posts.

The Minister further urged members of the community to cooperate with the new commissioners so that their aspirations are met.

The Commissioners are appointed at a time when Lakes State faces multiple incidences of insecurity revolving around cattle rustling and criminality.
