Eight South Sudan political parties have agreed to form an alliance for a referendum campaign in Eastern Equatoria state.
Representatives of political parties suggested yesterday, in a meeting chaired by Eastern Equatoria state governor, Louis Lobong Lojore, that the alliance would help in civic education and mobilization of resources for the forthcoming referendum.
Lobong told the press shortly after the meeting that the agenda of the meeting was how to approach the referendum, Radio Emmanuel reported.
He said the referendum for self-determination is not an issue of SPLM party alone, but of the entire citizens of South Sudan, regardless of their parties.
Mr. Patrice Bafura Paul, the Eastern Equatoria state chairman for South Sudan Democratic Front, said his party supports the SPLM aspiration of an independent south Sudan.
Also Peter Loting Loti, the state secretary general for United Democratic Front (UDF) said the independence of South Sudan has been the vision of the party.
