Foreigners leaving in Lakes State have been called upon to register with the office of immigration in Rumbek by 11th August 2010.
Makur Kedit Bol, Lakes State Chief of Immigration, told Good News Radio that in registering all foreigners leaving in Lakes State, his office is implementing instructions from the Government of Southern Sudan. The aim of the registration is to know the number of foreigners leaving in Southern Sudan.
Mr. Makur also said that registration of foreigners in Lakes has delayed, and will cost 10 Sudanese Pounds per person.
Daddy Obware, a Kenyan leaving in Rumbek and working with Save the Children in Southern Sudan, told Good News Radio at the registration office in Rumbek that he was going through the process of registration, and that the cost of 10 Sudanese Pounds is affordable.
Lilian Angalika, a business lady lamented that business people were required to pay 150 Sudanese Pounds to renew their GoSS permits for the duration of one month, while foreigners working with organizations renew their permits on the same fee for a duration of three months.
The registration of foreigners in Southern Sudan has been ordered by the Senior Chief of Immigration, Daniel Manyang Garang, following the July 11th terrorist attacks in Kampala.
