GoSS ministry of Health released today a report on the number of health training institutes in south Sudan, to map out the geographical distribution of the training centers.
The report will also strengthen basic capacity supervision of human resource development for health, and health strategic plan and action.
The undersecretary of GoSS ministry of Health, Olivia Lomoro, explained to SCR News that out of 36 health facilities and training centers, twenty three are working.
Ms. Lomoro revealed that most health training facilities are in Central Equatoria, followed by upper Nile, while Jonglei and Northern Bahar el Gazal are of great concern to her ministry, with nearly no training health facilities.
She noted that different curriculums adopted from Khartoum, and East Africa collide with GoSS curriculum in-terms of years of studies and awards.
She added that lack of tutors and lack of administrative regulations to have the states or GoSS responsible for the management of the training centers are major challenges.
