The Agency for Co-operation and Research Development (ACCORD) targets the Ministries of Education for HIV/AIDS mainstreaming.
ACCORD organized a three-day workshop for officials from GoSS and State Ministries of Education, to increase their capacity on HIV/AIDS issues.
ACCORD area program manager for South Sudan, Steven Wani, told SCR News that GoSS and Central Equatoria State ministries of Education are important actors in raising HIV/AIDS awarenessl. He added that teachers are also involved in coming up a with a work plan that they would use in their various schools
The workshop also availed work-place policies that would help staff in various organizations to acquire information on HIV/AIDS issues and to give the right message.
Education plays a key role in the fight against HIV/AIDS which calls upon teachers and institutions to act in synergy, since HIV/AIDS is a cross cutting issue.
