A senior lawyer said laws formed before the Comprehensive Peace Agreement CPA do not address the current situations in South Sudan.

Article 280, section three of the Interim Constitution of Southern Sudan 2005 allows all existing laws before the CPA to remain in force.

Lomore Robert Bule, advocate and managing partner of Lomore and advocating company, told SCR news that the 2003 SPLM laws are minimal in number and do not address the current situation in South Sudan.
He added that the parliament should take the task to expedite the process of creating new laws to address the entire region.
Mr. Lomore highlighted the absence of domestic laws, like marriage and inheritance laws, and mentioned that issues of child custody and abduction are also not addressed in the pre- CPA laws.
