The newly appointed GoSS minister of Information has urged the media in South Sudan to prioritize the 2011 referendum at some point in their coverage.

Benjamin Barnaba Marial made these remarks today in Juba during the first introductory meeting between the media houses and officials from the ministry of information.
The minister affirmed that media houses have the freedom to inform the public on all subjects, and should use the same freedom to inform the public about the referendum and the post-referendum issues.
Mr. Barnaba Marial reiterated the commitment of GoSS to ensure that the referendum is carried out on time, and called upon the UN and the international community to greatly assist in the referendum, especially for logistics.
