GROWING STUDENT POPULATION MIGHT DELAY TRANSFER OF JUBA UNIVERSITY TO SOUTH SUDAN

At least four lecturers from Juba University anticipate that the present infrastructure cannot support the growing number of students and staff which might delay the transfer of the university from Khartoum to south Sudan.
Most colleges in Juba University were transferred in Khartoum late eighties due to the civil war. Talking to SCR news, Professor Joshua Otar Akol said the current capacity of students cannot be accommodated at Juba University in the south Sudan branch.

He affirmed that the number of students has increased from eighteen hundred to over one thousand.

Lecturer Natanio Baya said the number of increased students will need more classes and more lecturers who are not available at the moment.

Lecturer Andu Zakaria cited the diploma students who are using Bulluck primary school structures due to lack of enough classrooms.

The lectures noted with great concern that the transfer of the university is very positive which brings most courses nearer to the students of south Sudan.

Apparently three colleges out of seven have been transferred to the Juba University, south Sudan branch.
