MINISTER PLEDGES TO ENSURE PEACE

GoSS minister for peace and CPA implementation pledged to ensure peace for the people of south Sudan. Pagan Amum was appointed by GoSS president Mr. Salva Kiir to head and oversee issues concerning peace.
Mr. Amum remarked that the vision of the peace commission was to ensure southern Sudanese peace, freedom, and harmony in the communities. Mr. Amum noted that south Sudan would build and contribute to extended peace and stability between the people of south and North, the neighboring countries and the Horn of Africa.

Mr. Amum explained that the commission’s goals were to build peace, complete the CPA and negotiate post referendum arrangements. He said the new ministry is determined to realize peace through the full implementation of the CPA and programs that would get rid of violence in south Sudan.

Mr. Amum noted that the ministry will address issues affecting peace in southern Sudan and the country’s relations with partners to Sudan.
