The three Centers are part of the 13 Child Protection Centers approved to be built in six states in Southern Sudan, through a grant from Sudan Recovery Fund (SRF).
The running of the three Centers in Lakes State was discussed yesterday in a meeting between Save the Children and the Ministry of Social Development in Lakes state
Mr. Philip Deng Ahoc is the Director General at the Ministry of Social Development. Speaking to Good News Radio, he said that the Centers will provide counseling services for child victims and survivors of abuse and psychological support of children.
He added that the centers will also be a meeting place for children.
Mr. Obware Daddy, the Education Project Manager of Save the Children said that there has been good collaboration between the Ministry of Social Development and Save the Children in Southern Sudan with regard to Children.
Mr. Obware urged the community in Lakes State to be involved in protecting the children, adding that the Centers being set up are at the service of the community to address cases like early child marriage and harmful cultural practices.
The three Child Protection Centers will serve to address issues affecting children in Lakes State where the practice of early girl child marriage has been rated highest in Southern Sudan.
