Registration for training at St. Peter Claver Ecological Training Centre of the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek is ongoing with the deadline set for July 15th.
The centre is one year old and has since produced eleven technicians.
The Centre offers 8 months training in two areas of solar and electrical installations and simple construction, water and ecological technologies. Jano Rusnak is the deputy Director of the Centre.

He told Good News Radio that the training will kick off on the 2nd of August 2010. Mr. Rusnak also said that the course is divided into two semesters of four months each.

Mr. Rusnak further said that the course in Solar and electrical installation that started last year produced 11 technicians who have acquired knowledge and skills on electrical wiring, setting up lights, switches, and sockets, and how to set up the solar system including its maintenance.

Mr. Rusnak mentioned that the course in construction, water and ecological technologies will be launched this August, aiming at equipping trainees with skills in construction, plumbing works, including the installation of water pumps, and sanitation, among other skills.

Mr. Rusnak noted that applicants for the training need to have at least Primary School Certificate and manifest willingness to follow the course for the entire 8 months duration, adding that the course is for free, though the Training Centre does not provide accommodation.

Trained technicians from St. Peter Claver Centre have tried out their skills with success at Mary Immaculate Rural Hospital, Mapuordit and Loreto Girls Secondary School in Rumbek and are available for jobs if called upon.
