Violence against girls and women created an international situation that has not been given proper attention about its causes and consequences.

Pastor David Saulu is Counsellor working for Round the Christian Counselling Ministry in Uganda who came to Yei to train police, media houses, NGO representatives and law practitioners on matters of aggression against women.

Rev. Saulu told Easter Radio that gender based violence was an international issue that needed universal attention to combat discrimination against women and promote equality.

SCOPE Project Officer for Empowerment, Betty Seham, said that gender based violence was affecting women at home and in society.

The two-day workshop targeted local government authorities especially lawyers, paralegals, judiciaries, media houses and the police.
