A group of women who support HIV positive people in Yei are very happy with the recognition of their efforts against discrimination with the attribution of an international prize.

Widows, Orphans and People Living with HIV and AIDS (WOPHA) was among the 25 institutions distinguished with this year’s Red Ribbon Award.

WOPHA executive Director Grace Kadayi told Easter Radio over phone from Juba that she was much impressed and feeling very happy with the winning of the Red Ribbon award.

Ms. Kadayi added that she would take part in a five-day conference in Vienna, Austria, next month.

She explained that WOPHA was started in Yei in 2002 by eight members to fight stigmatization and discrimination of people living with AIDS.

The Red Ribbon winners will receive 5000 US Dollars on a ceremony on December 1, World AIDS day.
