The UN Security Council said that the perpetrators of an attack on U.N. peacekeepers in Darfur must be brought to justice swiftly.
On Monday, more than 20 gunmen opened fire on Darfur peacekeepers known as UNAMID, killing three and injuring a fourth seriously.The Rwanda peacekeepers fought the assailants in a gun battle that lasted more than an hour, UNAMID said.
The Mexican presidency of the UN Security Council issued a statement condemning the raid on the peacekeeping mission in Darfur.
The message encouraged the Khartoum government to ensure that all the perpetrators were swiftly brought to justice .
It demanded an immediate end to impunity for those that attack peacekeepers in Darfur.
