The army of South Sudan denied fresh clashes with a rebellious force in Jonglei State.

SPLA Spokesman, Kuol Deim Kuol, dismissed allegations suggesting fresh clash between the SPLA and forces loyal to George Athor Deng, a former SPLA general who turned rebel after April elections.

Mr. Athor yesterday said his forces clashed with the SPLA on Sunday in what he described as the deadliest fight between his forces and the SPLA.

Mr. Athor added that he lost eigth men while three were wounded, adding that from the SPLA side 85 were killed and 14 injured.

Mr. Deim dismissed Mr. Athor’s story as propaganda.
