Thousands of school children matched yesterday from Torit County Headquarter to Freedom Square in commemoration of World Refugee Day but turned the event into a campaign for No to Unity and Yes for Separation of South Sudan, Emmanuel Radio reported.
The children, who braved the heat, delivered their messages through songs and poems.
One pupil from Torit Airport View Primary School, taking the centre point of a poem for the “NO” vote for unity, decried war saying it scattered Southerners as refugees and several were killed, leaving many orphans.
He added that orphans who survived the war and landmines did not need unity but separation.
Eastern Equatoria minister for Education, Michael Lopukei Lotyam, took the lead from the pupils and called on citizens to take the stand of their forefathers who died in pursuit for independence of south Sudan.
