The Catholic Diocese of Rumbek will conclude the Year for Priests next month with an ordination to the priesthood.
Bishop Caesar Mazzolari of Rumbek wrote a letter to the church personnel recalling the resolution at the last annual assembly stating that the diocese should close the your of the priest on the occasion of the ordination celebration of Father John Mathiang Machol in Rumbek on Sunday, July 18, 2010.Bishop Mazzolari asked the church personnel to prepare the youth and representatives from the catholic communities to prepare poems, songs, long or short stories and plays about what he described as “the life of priests or the year of the priest”.
The Bishop added that the most important preparation was the prayer of all communities that the ordination might be a renewing holy event for the entire diocese of Rumbek.
Speaking to Good News Radio early this month, bishop Mazzolari described the ordination of John Mathiang as an extraordinary occasion, explaining that the last priestly ordination of a native of Rumbek Diocese took place 27 years ago.
Deacon John Mathiang, 33, is from Makurieric, in Rumbek.
He celebrates his first solemn mass in Yirol parish the day after his ordination.
