The first batch of students at the Catholic Health Training Institute in Wau concluded the foundation course with very positive results.

The results were released today and the 17 students succeeded with 65 percent passing with distinction, 30 percent with credit, and five percent with a pass, SCR News correspondent said.

Staff and students were satisfied with the improvement the trainees obtained in the curricular field and in terms of positive and supportive relations among colleagues and teachers.

The trainees had a week of holidays after the exams and now they are attending a workshop on trauma healing since Monday.

The training is led by Frauke Siedenburg from Healing the Healers who dealt with trauma, counselling and stress management.

The five-day workshop ended today

The introduction block of the Registered Nurses course starts on Monday and ends in September, followed by the first theory block until November.

After the December holidays the trainees are due for a three-month clinical placement.

The promotion for the next intake of candidates to registered nurses is going on and the interviews are expected to take place in July.

An orientation week will be held at the end of August and the next foundation course starts in September 2010.
