The governor of Lakes state said it was an unfortunate silly mistake to admit more students than the Rumbek Senior Secondary School could realistically contain.

Governor Chol Tong Mayay told Good News Radio that a school should admit students it could cater for in terms of space and number of teachers and food.

Eng. Chol said he met the headmaster of Rumbek Senior School and the Director General of the Ministry of Education.

He added that it was regrettable that the school administration admitted more students than it could realistically take in.

Eng. Chol urged Lakes state citizens to remain calm and keep security.

He urged people to farm and keep animals away from fields to improve food security.

The governor urged Lakes state residents to get ready for the referendum, adding that registration would kick off soon.

Rumbek Senior Secondary School students threatened to go on strike for a number of issues, including overcrowding, lack teachers and insufficient food.
