The retired Catholic bishop of Torit led representatives from The Holy Trinity Peace Village Kuron to congratulate the new Eastern Equatoria governor.

The delegation brought gifts produced in the Peace Village retired bishop Parid Taban started to Governor Louis Lobong Lojore together with concerns over security, roads, health and schools, Emmanuel Radio reported.

Governor Lobong described Bishop Paride as the architect of development in Eastern Equatoria, saying his government would work with him to uplift the state.

He recognized the work the bishop did during the war to build a network of schools across Eastern Equatoria.

Bishop Taban said the visit was set to take place immediately after the release of election results but he had to go to Germany to give a talk at a peace conference on the role of the Church during the war.

Bishop Taban assured during his presentation in Germany that Sudan would never return to war after the referendum.

He said the citizens of South Sudan were more peaceful than what other people might perceive externally.
