PEER EDUCATORS TRAIN ON HIV AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH

Peer educators from six secondary schools in Juba are under going a three-day training on HIV and AIDS and reproductive health.

Oniko Joseph is the HIV and Aids program officer for the Sudanese Red Crescent society. He told SCR News that peer educators were randomly collected from six secondary schools to disseminate information on HIV and AIDS and reproductive health.

Mr. Oniko said the peer educators conducted activities for HIV and AIDS awareness in their various schools.

The activities included dramas, sketches, poems and songs.

Mr. Oniko explained that it was vital to educate the youth on HIV and AIDS so that they would be able to protect themselves from the virus.

Sixty students are attending the training, ten from each school.

The schools include Juba commercial, Comboni, Supiri, Mahad, Juba Girls and Juba Technical secondary schools.
