ARMED BANDITS LOOT CASH IN UNITY STATE

Three unidentified armed men robbed a shop and hijacked a car in Abiemnhom county of Unity state.

Eye witnesses said the robbery happen on broad daylight on Tuesday and nobody dared to intercept the bandits.

The culprits went away with an estimated amount of more than 20 thousand Sudanese Pounds.

Mijak Kot Bol, a local businessman in Abiemnom, told Sudan Tribune that the robbers raided the shop around midday on Tuesday.

Mr. Bol said two of the robbers were armed with AK 47 automatic rifles.

He explained that the criminals started their operation by firing live bullets into the air, forcing customers and shop owners to run for cover.

In the confusion some of the robbers forced their way into the shop and collected the money.

Mr. Bol said the local police arrested some individuals suspected of cooperating with the bandits including a taxi driver.
