The retired bishop of Torit said he was confident that Sudan would not return to war.
Bishop Paride Taban spoke out against concerns that increased instability following the general elections in April would lead to violence, CISA reported.Bishop Paride said people were determined to play their part in the all important upcoming referendum.
The retired bishop of Torit added that his hopes for peace were boosted by recent comments by GoSS President Salva Kiir Mayardit who ruled out the possibility of a return to war in his inauguration speech.
Bishop Paride called for the continued involvement of the international community to help Sudan through the interim phase.
He added that Southerners were people of good will, but they needed a lot of support from the international community in order to be strengthened.
