NATURAL RESOURCES MINISTRIES START PREPARING 2011 BUDGET

Five ministries that cater for natural resources in South Sudan started preparing a new fiscal budget to support their activities in 2011.

Co-chair donor representative, Emmanuel Iminari, to told SCR News that GoSS and the development partners agreed to make a budget scheme to facilitate the ministries’ performance.

Mr. Iminari explained members from the five ministries and development partners checked how the 2010 budget was being implemented.

Mr. Iminari added the natural resource budget group would next week to look at the actual budget of 2011.

He explained that reliance on oil revenue and untimely money releases from the finances office were some of the key challenges the ministries faced.

Mr. Iminari added that development partners brought in funds to overcome the shortage of money due to last year’s plunge in the price of oil.

The natural resources group planned a series of meetings to harmonize the 2011 budget scheme. The draft should be presented to the parliament for approval.
