Youth leaders are urging parents to develop trust in the young and allow their children to take part in activities organized by the Church.

In an interview with Good News Radio, Sr. Patricia Abuk, a youth animator from Yirol Mission, Lakes State, said few young people turned up for youth pastoral activities.

Sr. Patricia added that some parents were discouraged from allowing their children to attend Church activities because of isolated episodes of girls getting pregnant.

Sr. Patricia denied claims that girls could get spoilt while they were involved in Church activities, adding that that she remained close to the youth as an animator.

James Mabor Anyum, a youth leader from Holy Cross Mission, Yirol, said lack of meaning of what Church was, suspicion, and ignorance on the part of parents and the practice of tribalism by some youth were among the reasons keeping young ones from church activities.

James Mabor urged youth leaders to desist from condemning parents who disallowed their children to take part in Church activities and adopt dialogue that would convince parents of the importance of Church activities for the youth.
