A European official said Sudan was the Union’s largest humanitarian operation and this year the EU was investing especially in the South.
European Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response, Kristalina Georgieva told the press this morning that the EU was making a donation of thirty five million Euro, something like 97 million Sudanese pounds, for food and to support finternally displaced people.Ms. Georgieva added that EU is also prepared to ensure that the humanitarian needs of the people are cared for during the referendum.
Ms. Georgieva also called on the authorities to improve access to areas in need of humanitarian assistance.
