Riek Machar Teny was re-appointed vice-president of the Government of Southern Sudan.
GoSS President Salva Kiir Mayardit yesterday signed two presidential decrees. The first one released Dr. Machar as his caretaker vice-president while the second appointed Dr. Machar to the office of vice-president.Dr. Machar’s reappointment was the first step towards the establishment of the new government of South Sudan expected to be announced during the coming week.
The caretaker ministers were to be relieved from their offices last Monday to pave the way for a new executive but the move was postponed due to Mr. Kiir’s trip to Kenya to meet with U.S. VP Joe Biden.
