A facilitator at the workshop on justice and peace that took place in Mapuordit said the initiative offered hope for real reconciliation among the people.
Heather Peters is the Peace and Justice Coordinator for the Diocese of Rumbek and helped facilitate the workshop in Mapuordit at the start of a month-long series of events surrounding the World Cup tournament.She told Good News Radio that the events under the banner Mapuordit World Cup offered hope for real reconciliation among the people, adding that there was a mood of excitement and open sharing among the different groups.
Ms. Peters also explained that the workshop addressed “spaces needed to find reconciliation” like hospitality and trust.
She said that the events in Mapuordit would help people exercise their bodies through sports and their minds as they engage in the “world cup of knowledge” and their hearts as they learn reconciliation,
Ms. Peters added that it was going to be a “wonderful month in Mapuordit”.
Over 100 people, young and old, attended the one-day workshop.
