A rebelled SPLA colonel based in Unity State was chased by the southern army out of the region in a bid to end the post-elections uprising.
SPLA spokesman, Major General Kuol Deim Kuol, said the uprising led by rebel Colonel Galwak Gai in Unity State came to an end .Mr. Deim added that the SPLA fought the rebels led by Mr. Gai and they were seriously hit.
He said many rebels died in the clashes and Mr. Gai escaped north to Higleig area.
Mr. Kuol added that some rebels started surrendering to SPLA forces.
Mr. Gai took up arms against the government of southern Sudan immediately after losing in the general elections.
