The Supreme Court in Khartoum made an interim ruling urging the elections commission to address complains presented by a gubernatorial candidate in Central Equatoria State.
Alfred Ladu Gore ran as independent candidate for Central Equatoria state governorship in the last April elections and contested the results from the National Elections Commission (NEC) that proclaimed Clement Wani Konga as the governor.Mr. Gore told journalists yesterday in Juba that the Supreme Court in Khartoum wanted NEC to make a ruling over his complains within seven days.
Mr. Gore explained that the ruling states that the fact that Mr. Konga was sworn in as governor would not affect NEC’s decision.
He revealed that if the decision of NEC went in his favour he would proceed to the National Supreme Court in Khartoum for a final ruling.
Mr. Gore raised complains over results at Terekeka County and the SPLA headquarters at Bilpham where he said massive rigging took place.
Mr. Gore said if the decision of NEC was not in his favour, he would pursue the case with the Supreme Court in Juba.
NEC refused already three times to response to the letters written by the Supreme Court demanding the break down of the elections results for Central Equatoria governorship.
