Health workers from South Sudan are taking part on a refresh training course to increase their capacity to answer challenges from maternal and child health care and cut down the number of deaths at birth.
The participants came from the 10 states of southern Sudan for a four-day training that started yesterday tin Juba.Sunday Immunu, inspector of reproductive health, told SCR News that maternal and child mortality rates in South Sudan are among the highest in the world.
Ms. Immunu said the training should help heath workers to bring that number down.
Inspector Sunday added that she hoped that the health workers would be able to implement what they learned in the training to reduce the maternity and child deaths.
The workshop was organized by the ministry of health in partnership with UNICEF.
