A network of civil society organizations is starting a sensitization campaign towards the 2011 referendum on self-determination for South Sudan holding a procession in Juba.

Isaac Kenyi heads the Justice and Peace office of the Sudan Catholic Bishops Conference. He told SCR News that the march aimed at sensitizing the people of Southern Sudan to take part in the popular consultation.

Mr. Kenyi said the civil society network intended to form a pressure group to take up issues concerning the referendum.

He added that the network was to act as a task force to give civic education and form a consultative body that would monitor and analyze referendum results.

The procession for the referendum starts tomorrow at 9 AM in Juba Football Stadium and the participants march towards John Garang’s Mausoleum.
