The governor for Eastern Equatoria urged citizens to focus on the forthcoming referendum to achieve the final liberation and freedom of south Sudan.
Louis Lobong made this call on Tuesday upon his return from Khartoum, Emmanuel Radio reported.Mr. Lobong emphasized that the people of South Sudan did not need anything less than their independence.
The governor repeated the comments of South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardit, who said time was over to make unity attractive.
Eastern Equatoria Assembly speaker, Ambrose Emmanuel Ocholimoi, appealed to all political parties in the south to consolidate their support for the single objective of freedom.
Deputy speaker Paul Napwon argued that the development pledged by Khartoum government should not divert the people of South Sudan from the goal of independence.
Mr. Napwon said the resources that Khartoum government invested to develop South Sudan should not be misused for canvassing support for unity.
