CHURCH LEADER URGES SOUTH SUDAN FOUNDATIONS TO BE LAID AHEAD OF REFERENDUM

Southerners should establish the foundations for the future south Sudan ahead of the referendum in January 2011.

This is the position the apostolic administrator of Malakal Diocese, Monsignor Roko Taban Mousa, shared with SCR News.

Msg. Taban said southern should know the nation they want to be and what to leave out well ahead of the referendum.

Msg. Taban said he expected the referendum to be peaceful,

He urged southerners to unite and stop tribal conflicts.

Msg. Taban explained that the Catholic Church was preparing people to adopt a non-violent attitude though reconciliation.

Msg. Taban concluded saying that everybody must engage in the process of conversion, reconciliation, justice and peace.
