A former SPLA commander who took arms after the elections said the SPLM may rig the referendum results and not respect voters’s choices.

Renegade George Athor Deng expressed his concern about the conduct of the upcoming referendum in a document he distributed from the Jonglei Bush.

Mr. Athor alleged that the SPLM “ruling clique” rigged the general elections in the South and it could also rig the referendum.

He charged that an elite in Juba was desperately trying to hold to power by misleading public opinion.

Mr. Athor called on all the Southern Sudan political parties and independent candidates to discuss a roadmap that would respect the choice of the people and safeguard it against the riggers.
