A Catholic charity started today a five-workshop on emergency preparedness gathering participants from all dioceses of Sudan and guests from abroad.

Alistair Dutton is the Humanitarian Director for Caritas International. He told SCR News that his organization is making preparations for any possible referendum outcome.

Mr. Dutton explained that Caritas International is devising ways to get ready to meet any situation during and after the referendum process in South Sudan.

The participants are evaluating the social activities of the Catholic Church in the country, analyse the current situation and find a suitable approach to the emerging challenges.

The workshop drew some 60 participants from local and international Caritas offices.

It will continue throughout the week until Friday.
