The African Union Commission launched quick impact projects to improve children’s health in Juba.

The AU is financing the renovation of El Saba Children Hospital emergency ward and providing new beds and sheets.

Justine Bruno Tongun, medical Director of El Saba, said at the launch ceremony that the AU’s move will turn the health facility into a better place.

Al Haj Peter, Director General at Central Equatoria State Ministry of Health, thanked the AU for their support.

Dr. Al Haj lamented lack of beds and blankets in the hospital.

He added that with the AU support some constrains will be minimized.

Al Saba Children Hospital was established in 1974 in Juba by the Kuwait government.

The management was entrusted to Dawa Islamia.

Most of the facilities including buildings are lapidated.

The emergency ward was closed down eight months ago due to lack of working conditions.
