Fifty three women from six states of South Sudan are acquiring skills on how to effectively rule in a democratic leadership.
The skills are passed to them through a two-week training organized by Isis-Women’s International Cross Cultural Exchange, in collaboration with Toto-Chan Centre for Child Trauma under the theme “Women’s leadership in peace building in south Sudan.”Talking to SCR News, Isis-WICCE coordinator Harriet Namusoke said the training will enable elected women leaders tackle issues of conflict management, advocacy networking and management of organizations.
Ms. Namusoke added that the training was designed to inform women on interventions to respond to needs of wounded communities, reduce cycles of violence and contribute to sustainable peace and development.
Jim Long John, executive director of Toto-Chan Centre for Child Trauma, said skills to put more pressure on those who condone violence and allow it to exist shall be increased among women.
Mr. Long added that there will be special training for elected women members of parliament on how to manage parliamentary issues and increase participation in analyzing and integrating of gender needs in decision making process.
