A Catholic bishop in DR Congo joined human rights groups in calling the U.S. President to halt attacks of Ugandan rebels in his diocese.

Bishop Julien Andavo Mbia of Isiro-Niangara said Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) attacks are continuous and led to a serious situation of insecurity in the villages near Niangara.

Bishop Mbia added that the response from the Congolese army and UN peacekeepers of the UN Mission in Congo was inadequate.

The bishop said the LRA was a regional problem that must be solved with the help of the international community.

Bishop Mbia urged President Barack Obama not to leave the LRA victims on their own.
