Authorities in Yirol East County, Lakes State, said they recovered 750 heads of cattle from Panyijiar County, Unity State, that were stolen three days ago.
Yirol East County Commissioner, Athian Majak Malou, told Gurtong website that over 6700 cattle were stolen in attacks by Nuer youth from Panyijiar in recent months.He added that during the raids 26 people died.
Mr. Athian explained that he planed the livestock recovery initiative with his Panyijiar counterpart in a bid to bring peace between the two neighbouring communities.
He called for the deployment of more security forces to assist in the recovery efforts.
