The Chairman of South Sudan High Elections Committee was laid to rest after a funeral mass in Wau Catholic cathedral.

Ceasar Arkangelo Suleiman died in Khartoum on May 10 after a long illness. He was 75.

Mr. Suleiman’s funeral took place this morning at St. Mary Help of Christians Cathedral, in Wau and Fr. Peter Bernard Unjire, the assistant parish priest, presided the requiem mass, SCR News correspondent reported.

The cathedral was packed with officials and other people who wanted to pay their last respects to late Mr. Suleiman.

Government offices in Wau remained closed to allow civil servants to attend the funeral.

Access to the streets around the cathedral was conditioned in order to facilitate the flow of people and vehicles during the funeral rites.
