An official of the U.N. Mission in Sudan says UNMIS will honour its duties and responsibilities to protect ordinary Sudanese as mandated by the UN Security Council.
Asharaf Eissa said the U.N. mission will also continue to monitor the ceasefire agreement signed between the NCP and the SPLM over five years ago.The statement comes some days after the SPLM claimed to have evidence that the NCP was trying to destabilize the south by arming proxy militias in the region.
The NCP denied the accusation expressing its commitment to fully implement the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
