Catholic Diocese of Torit has donated over 500 bags of seeds to farmers of three counties of Eastern Equatoria state.
The seed donation under the “emergency project” funded by Caritas, the Catholic aid agency, is targeted to benefit farming communities in hunger affected areas of Ikotos, Budi and Kapoeta East Counties, Emmanuel Radio reported.Gismalla Kebi, the project field officer, said the targeted beneficiaries are the vulnerable communities affected by food shortage due to a long draught.
The donation includes cassava cuttings, millet, groundnuts and simsim seeds among others.
Mr. Kebi said that farmers will receive some tools too.
