A SPLA renegade commander said government troops clashed with soldiers loyal to him in Jonglei state, leaving 53 dead and ending hopes of a negotiated end to his mutiny.
General George Athor and a small contingent of troops rebelled in protest at the outcome.
Gen. Athor told Reuters from Jonglei state that the SPLA attacked his forces on Thursday in Colliet.
He added he has decided to suspend any negotiations with GoSS to end his rebellion.
