Priests can sustain their vocation through prayer, the help of the Virgin Mary and trust in Jesus who promised to be with his disciples always.

This is the life witness of Fr. Andrea Osman Okello, Vicar General of Rumbek Diocese, on the occasion he celebrated ten years as priest.

Fr. Andrea told Good News Radio that prayer, the help of Mary and trust in Jesus are the reason for him to remain a priest while some of his colleagues quit the ministry.

He added that it is a mystery and a secret in the mind of God.

Fr. Andrea said that in the past ten years the Church in Sudan saw a big drop in the number of candidates to the priesthood.

Fr. Andrea recalled the prayer he composed for his ordination souvenir card, asking God to give eternal rest to his parents and to the victims of war, and to bless those who helped him is his journey towards the priesthood and his fellow priests.

Fr. Andrea is originally from Wau but was ordained in the Diocese of Rumbek.
He is the Vicar General of the diocese and the Parish Priest of Holy Family Cathedral.
