The Comboni Missionary Sisters moved to their newly constructed house in Cueibet County, West of Rumbek, realizing their dream of opening a new community in the diocese of Rumbek.

Maria do Carmo Carvalhal was appointed superior of the new community at Cueibet. She told Good News Radio that she was happy to move from Rumbek to their new house, explaining that the dream came true after two years of logistical challenges with contractors.

Sr. Maria was thankful to the Loreto Sisters in Rumbek for their hospitality of several months.

Sr. Maria explained that the sisters will be mainly involved in evangelization and education in Cueibet.

They will work with teachers and secondary school students.

She urged the local community to receive them as their sisters and friends.

Sr. Maria, who comes from Portugal, lives in Cueibet with Sr. Evette from the USA.

She said a sister from Mexico will join them during this month and another in September.

Cueibet is 50 kilometres from Rumbek in the Wau road.

It is under Agangrial Parish run by priests from South Korea and sisters from the Congregation of Mary Mother of the Church.

The new opening marks the return of the Comboni Sisters to Rumbek diocese.
