KIIR PROMISES MORE MONEY FOR EDUCATION

President-elect of the government of southern Sudan said his government is to increase the money spent with education to address the major issues in the sector.

GoSS caretaker minister for Cabinet Affairs, Luka Monoja, read a statement prepared by Salva Kiir Mayardit to mark the fifth anniversary of the Go to School initiative celebrated today in Juba.

Mr. Kiir urged parents to enrol their children and contribute for a positive change in the quality of education in South Sudan.

He said that by 2015 all children in southern Sudan should be at school.

Mr. Kiir acknowledged the contribution of development partners and asked them to continue supporting the education sector in south Sudan.

He explained that the increase of investment in the education sector aims at addressing the issues of accessibility and quality education and to achieve the UN millennium development goals.
