Elected governors of 14 states in the north yesterday were sworn in before resident-elect Omar al-Bashir at the Presidential Palace in Khartoum.
The sworn in ceremony was the first step towards the formation of new government institutions coming from the general elections.Malik Aqar, the SPLM Blue Nile State governor, told reporters that the responsibility of all the Sudanese politicians now is to work for unity between north and south Sudan.
Mr. Agar said leaders have to make unity attractive for the southern Sudanese who will participate in a referendum in January 2011 to decide their independence.
