A soldier belonging to Joint Integrated Unit survived a grenade attack by a colleague while drinking alcohol in Torit.
An officer from Torit Central Police Station, Clement Ladu, told Radio Emmanuel that the JIU soldier identified as Aruff Deng sustained some injuries from the grenade blast on Monday night.The military officer told the police that one of his colleagues, identified as Mayom, detonated the grenade after the two engaged in bitter arguments.
Mr. Aruff added that both were drunk.
He explained that his attacker asked for more drinks and lost his temper when nobody attended to his demands.
This was the second grenade attack in Torit in less than a fortnight.
A SPLA soldier blasted mourners with a grenade at his home, late last month, killing a nine-year old boy.
Five other were seriously injured in the grenade blast, including a four-month old baby and four women.
