Health authorities started a vaccine campaign targeting women in fertile age and under one-year old babes.

Health centres across the country are ministering a package of six vaccines to babies to defend them against illnesses such as tuberculosis, polio, diphtheria, measles, tetanus and whopping cough.

Margaret Poni is in charge of the vaccination programme at Usratuna Primary Health Care Centre in Juba.

She told SCR News it is very important to get children vaccinated against these diseases that threaten then.

Ms. Poni urged girls and women aged between 15 and 45 to get protected against tetanus.

The vaccines are free of charge and the campaign lasts the whole week.

Health authorities are distributing long-lasting anti-mosquito nets to every pregnant woman and child that comes for vaccination.
